Cleaning Guide
We know it can be tough to know what is needed to clean your chosen fabric and how to keep it looking its best! That's why we have created this short guide to help you along the way.
Type
Viynl
Vinyl is a very hard wearing and easy to clean fabric type, usually repelling most liquids or leaving them on the surface, this allows you to use a cleaning spray and cloth to wipe down the fabric.
Dust can be removed with a vacuum or brush. Vinyl can tend to fade if left in direct sunlight and warp if in extreme heat (try not to leave by radiators)
Woven
Woven fabrics are a harder nut to crack when dealing with stains, Dab a liquid stain with a damp cloth straight away and then use a proper fabric cleaning (usually sprayed) onto the area and brushed in before vacuuming. To remove dush use a vacuum. Stain repellent can be added before or after purchase as we can in some cases get the fabric pre treated at cost, let us know if this is an option you would like.
General
Vacuum
Get rid of damaging dust particles, by gently vacuuming your upholstery on a regular basis. Just remember to always use a soft brush nozzle as you don’t want to risk catching fabric threads.
No sunlight, no chemicals
Direct sunlight will fade your fabrics making them look dull and bland. Also, chemical products (like paint or nail polish remover) are firmly in the ‘must avoid’ category of care. They cause fading, discoloration and stains. Likewise, limit humidity levels as these cause a whole host of problems such as mould.
Protect
For extra care, apply a Fabric Protector. Some of our fabrics come pre-treated, making them resistant to stains. Cleaning regimens are therefore less frequent but unique to each fabric. In these instances, it’s important you avoid applying fabric protector.
